730 N Beal was put on the national registry for architectural preservation. The construction date is estimated to be the late 1870's. It is a Greek revival, center passage design. The house met the national historic register criteria due to the significance of its architecture for embodying the characteristics of a early house type once common in Belton. This house is believed to have been built during the 1870's. coinciding with the cattle boom in Belton, just after the civil war. The center passage house was a very common dwelling type in the 19th century Texas. it was a natural evolution from the earlier dogtrot form which incorporated the passage as a hall inside the house flanked by two major rooms. additional rooms were commonly added later on the rear of the house. This type of central passage house was once very common in the region, but most of these structures have been razed or altered significantly; therefore, this house is a significant surviving example of its type.
